The Bridge-Enhanced ACL Repair (BEAR®) procedure is an innovative, FDA-approved technique that allows the body to heal its own torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Unlike traditional ACL reconstruction, which requires replacing the torn ligament with a tendon graft, the BEAR procedure uses a bio-engineered implant combined with the patient’s own blood to stimulate natural healing.

Our team works closely with each patient to determine the most appropriate treatment plan based on the specifics of their injury and their lifestyle goals.

How the BEAR Procedure Works

The BEAR implant acts as a bridge between the torn ends of the ACL. It is designed to protect the healing tissue while encouraging the body to restore the ligament naturally. Over time, the implant is absorbed, leaving the patient’s own ACL intact and healed.

Benefits of BEAR

  • Preserves the native ACL – Maintains the original anatomy of the knee.
  • Faster recovery – Early studies show patients may regain muscle strength sooner than with traditional ACL reconstruction.
  • Less invasive – Shorter operating room time and reduced surgical complications.
  • Ideal for active individuals – Supports quicker return to sports and daily activities.
