Pediatric Concussion Care
Marshall Health evaluates and treats pediatric patients who have had a concussion or who may have had a concussion.
Our team provides guidance on returning to academics, when and how to resume physical activity and addresses any academic or physical difficulties that may arise during the recovery process.
At Marshall Health, our comprehensive approach to concussion management includes general pediatrics, pediatric neurology, primary care sports medicine, physical therapy, rehabilitation and child psychology.
What to expect
Children and teens with suspected concussion undergo a full evaluation by both a general pediatrician and a pediatric neurologist, including:
- Physical exam
- Review of injuries and symptoms
- Neurological evaluation to assess motor skills, vision, mental status and other functions
- Imaging, such as a CT scan or MRI, if indicated
