Obesity is a complex problem and can lead to serious health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. When diet and exercise aren't enough, individuals struggling with obesity (those with a BMI over 30) may consider weight loss procedures in order to help them get back to a healthy weight.

The Cabell Huntington Hospital Center for Surgical Weight Control is designated as a Center of Excellence with a MBSAQIP designation through the American College of Surgeons; Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery (ASBS); and a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the Clinical Sciences Institute of Optum®.
