Marshall OB/GYN's Complex Family Planning Clinic is committed to personalized, comprehensive care, ensuring access to a full range of contraceptive options and guidance tailored to their preferences and medical needs. Led by Kristin Sinning, MD, FACOG, our clinic sees patients at the Marshall University Medical Center in Huntington. Patients can be seen without a referral and do not need to be already established with a Marshall Health physician. We will work with your primary OB/GYN to achieve your desired results.

What is Complex Family Planning?

Complex family planning is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on providing specialized, nonjudgmental and evidence-based counseling on all pregnancy options. These situations may involve medical or surgical complexities, or situations where a woman has had a prior negative experience with family planning methods.

Our Approach to Care

  • Specialized Team: Our complex family planning physicians are trained to handle cases that go beyond the typical scope of general obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Complex Medical Conditions: Services include counseling and provision of the full range of contraceptive methods, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) and permanent methods. This includes women with pre-existing medical conditions that complicate pregnancy or contraception. 
  • Complex Contraceptive Needs: Some women may have difficulty using certain contraceptive methods due to health problems, past adverse reactions or complications with various methods. This also includes offering medication and options for pain management, particularly for IUD insertion.
  • Early Pregnancy Loss Care: Management of miscarriage is a core service, including expectant, medical and surgical options.
