Marshall Health implements changes at Pediatric NowCare

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – To ensure continued quality patient care for Marshall Health patients, beginning Monday, January 8, Marshall Pediatrics – NowCare will now exclusively serve only pediatric patients whose primary care physician is associated with Marshall Health. This includes patients of Marshall Pediatrics, Marshall Family Medicine and Marshall Internal Medicine.
“Marshall Pediatrics has always been committed to high-quality care provided by our pediatricians at our NowCare,” said Jessie Shields, MD, vice chair of operations for Marshall Pediatrics. “In order to guarantee that we can continue this tradition of providing safe, quality care to our patients, we are instituting some necessary changes in response to the ever-increasing popularity of our NowCare. We want to ensure that, within the constraints of available staffing, we can appropriately care for your sick child in a safe and timely manner.”
Parents or guardians who wish to establish primary care at Marshall Pediatrics may contact Marshall Pediatrics at 304.691.1300, Marshall Pediatrics – Teays Valley at 304.691.8870, or Marshall Pediatrics – 3rd Avenue at 304.691.8900 during regular office hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to request a primary care physician.
Additionally, Marshall Health will introduce patient capacity limits for walk-in visits at its Pediatric NowCare clinic on Saturdays and Sundays for the safety of patients and providers. In the event that these limits are met on a Saturday or Sunday, the NowCare clinic will close for walk-in visits for the remainder of that day.
Call Before You Go to NowCare on Weekends
Parents or guardians may now call 304.399.4422 in advance of their child’s weekend visit to verify wait times and availability. Parents are encouraged to call ahead, particularly during peak periods of flu, RSV and COVID-19. Please note that we cannot guarantee immediate attention for your child as we operate on a walk-in basis without appointments.
