HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Six primary care physicians recently joined the clinical faculty of the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Marshall Health. The new faculty additions all recently completed residencies at the Marshall School of Medicine.

“Establishing with a primary care physician is important for your overall health,” said Stephen M. Petrany, M.D., professor and chair of the department of family and community health at the School of Medicine. “Your primary care physician knows you and your medical history when diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses and injuries as well as performing preventive check-ups and immunizations. The addition of these new physicians to the Marshall Health network ensures continued access to quality primary care across our region.”

The new physicians are:

Matthew Q. Christiansen, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the department of family and community health. Christiansen earned his medical degree from Marshall University. Matthew B. Curry, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the department of family and community health. Curry earned his medical degree from Marshall University. Carolyn A. Curtis, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the department of family and community health. Curtis earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Katherine J. Steele, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the department of family and community health. Steele earned her medical degree from Marshall University.
