HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Lexa Woodyard and James E. Johnson have been named department administrators at Marshall Health, a member of Marshall Health Network.
Woodyard returns to Marshall Health to oversee two departments: Marshall Dentistry & Oral Surgery and Marshall Eye Surgeons. Previously, she served four years as department administrator for Marshall’s department of obstetrics and gynecology. She also served as a physician practice administrator and in other administrative positions within Marshall Health Network at Cabell Huntington Hospital, including director of growth and development for perioperative services, administrator of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Surgery Center and practice administrator at Rivers Health. Woodyard has a dual bachelor’s degree in healthcare management and business management and a master’s degree in health care administration, both from Marshall University.
Johnson, an Ironton, Ohio, native, holds a B.S. in forensic accounting from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, and an M.B.A. in health care management from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Prior to joining Marshall Health, he spent more than 20 years in healthcare management positions across the country including director of quality management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Huntington, director of facility services at Mercy Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospitals in Missouri and vice president of process design and quality improvement at Forest Health Services in Michigan. In his new role, Johnson oversees the day-to-day operations, administrative and human resources functions of the department of internal medicine for Marshall Health and the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.
Marshall Dentistry & Oral Surgery offers comprehensive dental and oral surgery services by staffing three dental clinics, including a mobile clinic in partnership with West Virginia Health Right, a partnership with Ebenezer Outreach Clinic and Ohio Valley Physicians with six general dentists, one oral and maxillofacial surgeon, four hygienists and five dental residents. Coverage also extends to after hours at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Marshall Eye Surgeons in Huntington provides comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract, dry eye treatment, diabetic eye care and laser vision correction services.
Marshall Internal Medicine includes general internists and specialists who treat a variety of health conditions including but not limited to arthritis, autoimmune disorders, dementia, diabetes, gastrointestinal and liver diseases, infectious diseases, kidney diseases, lung diseases, metabolic disorders and thyroid disease Marshall Internal Medicine also offers centers to improve education and care for diabetic and geriatric patients. Other specialized services include sleep medicine, a comprehensive Lung Nodule Program, a dedicated clinic for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and advanced gastrointestinal services in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound and motility disorders.
