Marshall Health’s department of neurosurgery welcomes orthopaedic spine surgeon to its team
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall Health and Cabell Huntington Hospital, a member of Mountain Health Network, recently added orthopaedic spine surgeon, Jeffery D. Kim, M.D., to their teams of providers.
Kim, a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon, has been named an assistant professor in the departments of neurosurgery and orthopaedics at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He treats all spinal conditions involving the neck and back and has a special interest in utilizing minimally invasive methods. Kim specializes in adult degenerative conditions including spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy and cervical radiculopathy. He uses both conservative and surgical treatments depending on the needs of the patient and evidence-based research.
Kim most recently served as an orthopaedic spine surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Marshall’s school of medicine, followed by a spine surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
“I have known Dr. Kim since his residency here at Marshall,” said Anthony Alberico, M.D., chair of the school’s department of neurosurgery. “He is a truly caring and conscientious clinician and a skillful surgeon. He is well trained and eminently qualified in state-of-the-art technology including spinal robotics. He is a welcome addition to our staff, and his skill set as an orthopedic spine surgeon will nicely complement our existing neurosurgical faculty. His addition enables us all to better serve our community population with spinal problems.”
Kim is accepting new adult patients and referrals at two locations: Marshall Neuroscience, an outpatient department of Cabell Huntington Hospital at 1600 Medical Center Drive, Huntington (304-691-1787), and Marshall Neuroscience – Teays Valley at 300 Corporate Center Drive, Scott Depot (304-691-6910).
