Biography

Dr. Cindy Pinson was born and raised in China until the age of 18. She came to study abroad in the U.S. in 1987. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University in 1992. She earned her MD degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in 1996 and went on to train in the Department of Family and Community Health at Marshall University for her residency.

Dr. Pinson founded Travel MD in 2005, growing her practice over the next 13 years into the largest house call practice in the tri-state area. Travel MD joined Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) and Marshall Health in February 2018 to become CHH Home Care Medicine. Dr. Pinson serves as medical director of multiple local skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), as well as Amedisys Home Health. She visits patients in SNFs, assisted living facilities as well as private homes.

In 2013, she was selected as the House Call Doctor of the Year by the American Academy of Home Care Medicine. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the School of Medicine, teaching geriatric practice to medical students, residents, nursing staff and other allied professionals. She serves the chair of the post-acute care workgroup for MHC Accountable Care Organization, leading the collaborative effort to improve the communication between all care settings.

Dr. Pinson is married and has four children. She is active in the faith community and volunteers her time in a local recovery program.
