Medication-Assisted Treatment Training (Part 1 - in person)

Friday, September 6, 2019, 1:30PM - 5:30PM

The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Course covers all evidence-based practices and medications for treating patients with opioid use disorder.

The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Course is designed for: physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and healthcare; team members working with patients with opioid use disorder; physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who wish to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in-office.

Recognizing the critical importance of making medication-assisted treatment more widely available in West Virginia, we will offer a $1,000 incentive payment to any physician who obtains the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine, and a $750 payment to any nurse practitioner or physician assistant who obtains the waiver. This offer is subject to availability of funds, so may be time limited. ASAM also provides the additional 16 hours required for NPs and PAs to qualify for a waiver, free of charge in a separate training.

Course Format:

  • Blended – four hours live, four hours online
  • Four hours of live learning
  • Four hours of self-paced online learning to be completed within 45 days after the live course

This blended training satisfies the eight hours of education requirements for physicians to qualify for a DEA waiver. After completing all 8 hours of education provided by this course (4 hours live followed by 4 hours online), NPs/PAs/CNSs can access the additional 16 hours of training required by CARA in a separate course at no cost.
